Golden Plover habitat

During the summer months we are doing lots of habitat improvements to help rare birds. This work is part of Elan Links https://www.elanvalley.org.uk/about/elan-links Heritage Lottery Scheme.

Removing some of the molinia grass improves the diversity of the habitat for rare birds, in particular the Golden Plover.

Our herd of Dexter cows wearing GPS tracking collars spend the summer months munching and reducing the dominace of Molinia grass.

We also harvest the grass to use for winter bedding and processing into Biochar.
